What is god-modding?
This subject has changed alot through the years, as more modern roleplayers tend to overpower their characters straight from the get go. However the true meaning of God Modding has never changed.
God modding is taking your character beyond what is acceptable and making them 'Godly' or extremely powerful. Seemingly nothing can defeat the character, they have no weaknesses, or they are perfect in everything they do.
No one wants to roleplay with a character that can do anything or everything 'perfectly'. This defeats the purpose of there being any sort of 'chance' or difficulties to be overcome.
God Modding also has many subcategories that include various means of which a character or their items, pets, and abilities are Modded to be overly powerful. Some of these categories tend to be included within various rules sets as being banned or limited. Such as power-modding, character controlling, or even event controlling.
Power-Modding is one of the most looked down upon forms of god-modding, but is also one of the most common. This form of modding has become more and more common, as more players tend to power up their characters to try and match or overcome another player who is already power-modding. Basing their skills or character upon a power-modder only increases the amount of people who tend to god-mod. Since there are no longer many limitations for people to base their characters on, they can essentially have any power or strengths and not be questioned. However, these characters are still technically modding.
